Detectives from the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office have reopened an investigation into the 1993 killing of Zachary Jackson, a Modesto native. Jackson, who was 30 years old at the time, was found shot to death in his home located in an unincorporated area of Hayward on June 17, 1993.
According to Capt. Tye Modeste, spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, cold case investigators have found new evidence related to the homicide and developed additional leads as a result. “Based on the new leads, detectives believe there are people in the community who have knowledge of those responsible for Jackson’s murder,” Modeste said. “The sheriff’s office is encouraging anyone with information regarding this case to contact us.”
