Ceres police have identified the victim of last week’s fatal shooting at Riverview Park as Zocario Benjamin Munoz, 20, of Modesto. The incident occurred around 2 a.m. on December 3 at the park located south of the Tuolumne River and west of Mitchell Road.

No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. Police did not provide an update Tuesday regarding another man who was seriously wounded during the same event. Authorities initially indicated that the incident might be gang-related.

A Facebook fundraiser has been created to support Munoz’s family, including his young son Zaylen and girlfriend Andrea. The fundraising post states: “Zee had quickly become the sole provider for his little family, and with his loss, baby Zay and Andrea are left without his support in addition to having to cope with the grief of his memory.”

According to police, a group had gathered at Riverview Park when several unidentified males arrived in a vehicle. Shots were fired during a confrontation, resulting in two victims being struck.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact Detective Welsh at 209-538-5616.
