Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) has appointed Chelle Izzi as its Chief Commercial Officer, a newly created role focused on commercial strategy for the utility. The announcement was made on November 12, 2025.

Izzi will be responsible for shaping PG&E’s approach to serving large commercial and industrial customers, including sectors such as technology, agriculture, retail, education, manufacturing, and government. A key focus will be supporting AI-driven data centers and other large electric customers to help drive growth in electricity demand while aiming to reduce rates for all PG&E customers.

PG&E Corporation CEO Patti Poppe said, “We’re thrilled to welcome Chelle to the PG&E family as we continue to work every day to provide clean, resilient energy and create prosperity for the customers and hometowns we serve. Chelle’s expertise will help us find new ways to serve California’s growing electric demand while staying focused on affordability for our customers.”

Izzi brings over 25 years of experience in clean energy. Her background includes roles at Constellation Energy and CPower in competitive retail markets, infrastructure development at NextEra Energy Resources, and managing energy needs as a major customer at Walmart. She has also worked with the United Nations Office for Project Services.

According to Izzi, “PG&E’s electric demand will reach new levels as large commercial customers bring projects online and electrify their vehicle fleets. Meeting this transformational moment requires a strategic and streamlined approach to deliver for these high-growth customers. I’m passionate about accelerating the energy transition, and there is no better time or place to do so than today at PG&E.”

PG&E projects that electricity demand on its grid could double by 2040 due largely to growth from data centers—potentially adding up to 10 gigawatts of demand—or enough power for about 7.5 million homes. As more users join the grid, fixed operational costs can be distributed across a larger customer base; this may result in lower per-unit costs of electricity. For each additional gigawatt of data center load added, average customer bills could decrease by one to two percent; if data center demand increases by ten gigawatts overall bills could drop by ten percent or more.

A similar effect is expected from increased adoption of electric vehicles: adding one million EVs would lower bills by at least one percent.

Izzi has been involved in several major eMobility initiatives including Walmart’s public EV charging network, Greenlane’s zero-emission fleet network, and NextEra Mobility.

She holds an MBA in Finance and Economics from Columbia Business School and a Bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service.

PG&E serves more than 16 million people across Northern and Central California over a service area covering approximately 70,000 square miles. More information can be found at pge.com or through their official news page.
