More options for burritos and burgers are coming to Stanislaus County, with new locations planned in Oakdale and Turlock.
Oakdale Mayor Cherilyn Bairos announced on December 5 through a Facebook post that Chipotle will open its first location in the city. The restaurant is set to be located in the Mountain Mike’s Pizza shopping center at Maag Avenue and F Street. This development has generated excitement among residents, many of whom expressed relief that they will no longer need to travel to Riverbank for Chipotle.
In a message to The Bee, Bairos stated, “I do not have a projected opening date but will announce updates via social media.”
This Chipotle is one of two businesses recently announced for the shopping center previously anchored by the last K-Mart in Stanislaus County, which closed in 2019. In July, plans were revealed for a Walmart Neighborhood Market at the same site. A revised application was submitted in November proposing demolition of the old building and construction of a new 45,000-square-foot facility.
Meanwhile, about 20 miles south in Turlock, Nation’s Giant Hamburgers is preparing to open its first location there at 1811 Countryside Drive in the Foodmaxx shopping center next to Chong’s Cuisine. Although an official opening date has not been released, job postings on Indeed indicate positions starting at $17.50 per hour. According to local reporting from the Turlock Journal, sources suggest the restaurant may open in December.
Nation’s Giant Hamburgers already operates two other locations in Stanislaus County—on McHenry Avenue and Pelendale Avenue in Modesto. The chain is known for its large burgers served with Miracle Whip, as well as breakfast items, homemade pies, and milkshakes.
