The Coalition of Black Trade Unionists (CBTU) Region II recently held a conference in the Washington, D.C. area, focusing on the challenges faced by federal workers amid the ongoing government shutdown and reductions in staffing.

During the event, participants discussed how federal employees are dealing with workplace instability and financial uncertainty as a result of the shutdown. The conversation also addressed concerns about job security and the impact of staffing cuts on public services in the Mid-Atlantic region.

The CBTU Region II represents union members from across this area and aims to advocate for labor rights, particularly those affecting Black workers. The conference served as a platform for union leaders and members to share experiences and propose strategies for supporting affected workers during periods of government disruption.
