The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) has announced a series of public forums to gather input on the proposed transfer of control of Cox California Telcom to Charter Communications. The transaction would result in Charter assuming control over Cox subsidiaries that provide cable, voice, mobile, enterprise services, commercial fiber, and managed IT services within California.

The CPUC stated that public feedback is a key part of its decision-making process regarding this proposal. “Comments shared during the Public Forums will help the CPUC make an informed decision,” according to the commission.

No official action will be taken at these forums, though a quorum of commissioners or their staff may attend.

The schedule for the public forums includes both virtual and in-person options:

– February 4, 2026: Virtual sessions at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., accessible by phone (800-857-1917, passcode: 1673482#) and online viewing at https://www.adminmonitor.com/ca/cpuc/. Comments can only be made by calling in.
– February 12, 2026: In-person sessions at L.A. County Library – East Los Angeles (4837 E. 3rd St., Los Angeles) at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
– February 19, 2026: In-person sessions at National City Council Chambers (1243 National City Blvd., National City) at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
– February 25, 2026: Virtual sessions again available by phone and online viewing as above.

Members of the public can participate by attending in person or calling into virtual forums to provide comments. Those wishing to speak remotely must press star (*) one after dialing in to enter the speaker queue; names will be announced as it becomes each person’s turn.

Written comments are also accepted through the Charter-Cox Transaction proceeding’s Docket Card online portal.

Language translation or other accommodations can be requested from the CPUC’s Public Advisor’s Office by emailing public.advisor@cpuc.ca.gov or calling toll free at 866-849-8390 five business days before the forum date.
