Foster Farms has recalled 3.84 million pounds of breaded chicken and turkey products after wood chips were found in the batter, according to an announcement from the federal Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). The recall includes items such as chicken corn dogs and ground turkey on a stick.
The company, based in Livingston, initiated the voluntary recall for frozen products made between July 30, 2024, and August 4, 2025. Six injuries related to the issue have been reported. Details about the nature or location of these injuries were not provided in the FSIS notice.
Foster Farms stated on its website: “This precautionary measure is being taken to maintain the highest standards of product quality and consumer safety.”
The FSIS advised consumers to either throw away the affected products or return them to where they were purchased. Information about all 16 specific recalled products and their package sizes can be found on the FSIS website. Most are honey batter corn dogs, but some are whole-grain pancake and turkey wraps on sticks as well as other types of corn dogs.
According to FSIS, “The products subject to recall bear establishment number ‘P-6137B’ either inside the USDA mark of inspection or printed on the packaging. These items were shipped to retail and institutional locations nationwide, including Department of Defense and USDA Commodity Foods donations.”
The notice also clarified that while some recalled items reached schools, this happened through commercial sales rather than food provided by the USDA for the National School Lunch Program.
