Four people were arrested in Modesto earlier this month after authorities say they assaulted and attempted to kidnap a man outside his home. According to the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on October 14 in the 1100 block of Chicago Avenue.

Deputies responded to a report that multiple individuals were beating a man. While en route, deputies learned that the suspects had left the scene in separate vehicles. The Sheriff’s Office stated that its Air Support Unit assisted by locating these vehicles and directing ground units, which led to the arrests.

Investigators determined that the victim was working on a project outside his residence when several people approached and began attacking him. During the assault, deputies said, “the suspects allegedly dragged the victim toward a vehicle while threatening to kill him.”

The victim told law enforcement he recognized one of his attackers from an earlier dispute. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is expected to recover.

Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit participated in handling the case. The four suspects were booked into Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on felony charges including kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats, conspiracy, and home invasion.

Bail for those arrested ranges from $650,000 to $1 million.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about this case to contact the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office at (209) 525-7114 or submit an anonymous tip through Stanislaus Area Crime Stoppers at 866-602-7463.
