Highway 99 in south Manteca will be closed during nighttime hours over five consecutive nights to facilitate ongoing construction at its connection with Highway 120. The closures, which begin late Sunday, November 16, will affect all lanes of the highway at Austin Road. Northbound lanes will be closed from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m., while southbound lanes will be shut from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., continuing through Friday morning.

Drivers are advised to use detours via Yosemite Avenue and other streets in Manteca. Updates on the project can be found on the San Joaquin Council of Governments website at www.sjcog.org.

A similar five-night closure took place in October as part of improvements at the Highway 99/120 interchange, which serves as an important route for drivers traveling between Stanislaus County and the Bay Area.

The $48.2 million construction project aims to add a second lane to the ramp from eastbound Highway 120 to southbound Highway 99 and provide a fourth lane on southbound Highway 99 between Highway 120 and Austin Road. Work began in August 2024 by Teichert Inc., based in Pleasanton, and is scheduled for completion by summer 2026.
