Across Stanislaus County, residents and businesses are preparing for the holiday season by decorating their properties with festive lights and displays. The Modesto Bee is compiling a guide to some of the most notable holiday decorations in the area, based on reader submissions and community events.

One highlighted location is at 2521 Piazza Court in Modesto, where visitors can view singing and talking characters, leaping arches, and synchronized holiday music. According to Bee reader Dave Henke, “It’s a great show for the kids to watch Santa and his elves working in the window.”

Another display at 3313 Bridgeford Lane in Modesto features over 35,000 synchronized LED lights set to more than 30 holiday songs. Bee reader Carl Snyder noted that “Visitors can enjoy the full experience from the comfort of their vehicles by tuning in to the dedicated FM radio broadcast or enjoy the show from the sidewalk viewing area, where outdoor speakers provide audio for those who prefer to experience the lights up close.” Guests can also take photos at an angel wing selfie station. Snyder added, “The illuminated wings provide a magical backdrop for photos, and visitors are encouraged to share their snapshots on social media to spread the holiday cheer.”

In Ceres, Christmas Tree Lane will open for the season on December 6 with live music, food vendors, photos with Santa Claus at the Ceres Community Center (2701 Fourth St.), and a parade starting at Fowler Road and Rose Avenue. Homes along Christmas Tree Lane will be decorated with lights.

The McHenry Mansion at 906 15th St., Modesto will host candlelight tours on December 20 and 21. The tours feature Victorian-era decorations throughout the historic home. Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for children aged ten or younger.

Turlock is holding its sixth annual Holiday Lights Tour on December 8. Residents are invited to decorate their homes as part of a competition for “most spectacular” display.

Meanwhile, Atlas Court in Oakdale will not hold its usual Christmas light show this year. Facebook user Jenny Anaya wrote on September 24: “It’s been decided to skip the show this season,” adding that “For now we’ll enjoy a simpler season with the neighbors’ own decorations around the court.”

Residents interested in having their displays featured can submit information through an online form for possible inclusion in The Bee’s holiday lights guide.
