IAM Union General Secretary-Treasurer Dora Cervantes and Air Transport Territory General Vice President Richie Johnsen recently visited the William W. Winpisinger Education and Technology Center (W3) to engage with members participating in organizing and leadership classes. The visit is part of the union’s efforts to support education, organizing, and leadership development among its members.
Cervantes attended Organizing I classes conducted in both Spanish and English. She emphasized the importance of offering educational opportunities in Spanish to ensure all members have access to resources needed for leadership roles. “Her visit amplified the IAM’s ongoing commitment to inclusion, education, and empowering members at every level of the union,” according to the statement.
Johnsen met with organizers and young workers attending the Young Workers Leadership Program. He commended their dedication and enthusiasm as they continued their training near the holiday season.
Participants in the Young Workers program stated that the leaders’ visit reinforced their sense of belonging within the labor movement and confirmed their active role in shaping its future.
