IAM Local 914 recently held the Gift of Justice Winter Wonderland Black Tie Gala, an event aimed at celebrating the holiday season and recognizing individuals whose work supports justice, equity, and dignity. The gala was organized by the IAM Local 914 Human Rights Committee and brought together union members, their families, community partners, and leaders.

During the event, attendees donated toys that were distributed to two local nonprofit organizations: New Hope Village for Veterans and Parents Engaging Parents. These donations resulted in nearly 500 children receiving gifts during the holiday season. Both nonprofits offer support and resources to veterans, parents, and families in need.

Richie Johnsen, General Vice President of IAM Air Transport Territory, stated: “I am deeply honored to accept this award. Protecting the rights of transportation workers is at the heart of the labor movement—and it is a human rights issue we must never stop fighting for.”

Awards were given to several leaders within the organization. Brian Bryant received the Beacon of Solidarity Award; Dora Cervantes was presented with the Trailblazer Award; Richie Johnsen accepted the Guardian of Transportation Workers Award; and Nicole Fears received the Champion of Human Rights Award.

“Solidarity is the foundation of the labor movement, and this recognition reinforces our commitment to fight for dignity, fairness, and justice for all workers,” said International President Brian Bryant.

Dora Cervantes commented: “I accept this award on behalf of the union members whose dedication, grit, and unity continue to break barriers and open doors for generations of workers to come.”

Donyea Hoffman, Chair of IAM Local 914 Human Rights Committee said: “I am proud to help organize opportunities for our members to gather and give back. Our union stands for more than workers’ rights—we stand for strong, thriving communities, and this event lets us put that commitment into action.”
