Luigi’s Pizza, a family-owned business on Yosemite Boulevard in Modesto, has been voted the best pizza in Stanislaus County by readers. The shop, operated by Jennifer Warda and her son Anthony since 2021, received 117 out of 208 votes in the “best of Stanislaus” series. Gold Dust Pizza came in second with 42 votes.

The restaurant has been open since 1997 and remains under the Warda family’s ownership. Customers have highlighted the consistency of Luigi’s Pizza and its brick oven-cooked pies. Readers described the crust as “amazing” and noted that pizzas are prepared from scratch before being cooked to order.

“Luigi’s Pizza just hits different,” Julia Perez wrote during the nomination period. “Every bite feels like comfort, like a warm little reminder that good food can fix a long day. The crust, the sauce, the way everything melts together — it’s the kind of pizza that makes you stop and appreciate the moment. Luigi’s doesn’t just make pizza, they make happiness in a box. Truly the best.”

David Hill, a former Biz Beat reporter, described Luigi’s as “a bake and take — not a take and bake.” While there is seating for customers waiting for orders, there is no dine-in option.

Linda Escobar mentioned in her nomination that Luigi’s has “the best people who run it.” During a recent visit, Warda spoke with customers while preparing pizzas, making them feel welcome.

Warda shared that when she is not at the shop she misses being there. She believes that well-placed toppings are key to making good pizza.

“The sauce, cheese and toppings ratio are proportioned perfectly,” Babylonia Benjamin wrote in her nomination form. “The crust is incredible. Flavors are on point. Luigi’s Pizza makes delicious pizza. It’s the place I go to when I want a real pizza fix.”

Among the most popular pizzas are triple pepperoni, smackin’ chicken bacon ranch, and Italian Hawaiian spice—a combination of pepperoni, Canadian bacon, pineapple and jalapeño.

Luigi’s Pizza is located at 1905 Yosemite Blvd., Modesto. It operates Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Saturday through Sunday from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m.
