Thanksgiving Day, which falls on Thursday, Nov. 27, will bring changes to store and service hours across the Modesto area. Many local businesses and government offices will be closed or operating with reduced hours for the holiday.
The Modesto Bee reached out to various businesses in Stanislaus County to determine their schedules for Thanksgiving. Residents are advised that opening times may differ by location and should confirm details with individual stores before visiting.
Major grocery stores, supermarkets, and retailers in the region have announced closures or limited hours for the day. Vintage Faire Mall will not open on Thanksgiving. Some restaurants and retailers within the mall, such as Dave & Buster’s, may set their own schedules; customers are encouraged to contact these establishments directly.
Coffee shops in Modesto will also adjust their hours for Thanksgiving. Local pharmacies and drugstores have similar plans for modified schedules.
Government offices—including the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), U.S. Postal Service branches, public libraries, and most banks—will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. Additionally, package delivery services like FedEx and UPS will not operate during the holiday.
For those planning errands on Friday, Nov. 28—the day after Thanksgiving—it is recommended to check ahead since some offices such as the DMV may remain closed.
“Hours can vary by location, so be sure to check with your local store before heading out,” The Modesto Bee stated.
