Residents of Stanislaus County are invited to participate in a pet photo contest organized by The Modesto Bee. The competition is seeking entries for the cutest cat and dog in the area, with separate contests held for each category.

To enter, participants must submit a photo of their cat or dog, including the pet’s name and details, by noon on Thursday, October 16. Each pet requires a separate entry form. The contest is open to anyone living in Stanislaus County.

If more than 50 entries are received for either category, a committee from The Modesto Bee newsroom will select the top 50 cats and top 50 dogs to proceed to the public voting stage.

Public voting begins at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 20, and closes at midnight on Wednesday, October 22. Voters can cast votes as many times as they wish during this period. The ten cats and ten dogs with the most votes will advance to the second round of voting, which starts at noon on Thursday, October 23, and ends at midnight on Monday, October 27.

Winners will be announced on Monday, November 3 on modbee.com.

The event is part of a larger initiative involving over twenty McClatchy newspapers nationwide. Winners from each local contest will compete in a national contest starting Monday, November 10 to determine the Cutest Cat and Cutest Dog in the country.

“This poll isn’t scientific — it’s for fun!” according to organizers.
