The Modesto Bee has opened voting for its annual cutest dog contest in Stanislaus County. The competition follows a call for readers to submit photos and facts about their dogs. Over 25 dogs are now vying for the title, with only a select few advancing to the final round.

Readers can participate by casting votes in an online poll. There is no limit to the number of times someone can vote; voters may refresh the page to cast additional ballots. Voting for the first round ends at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, October 20. The second round will begin on Thursday, October 23, and close on Monday, October 27.

According to The Modesto Bee, “Voting is now open for The Bee’s competition to crown Stanislaus County’s cutest canine.” The winner will be announced on Monday, November 3, and will be featured in a story with additional photos on ModBee.com.

Similar pet contests are being held by more than 20 McClatchy newspapers across the United States. Winners from each local contest will advance to a national competition set to launch on Monday, November 10.

The newspaper emphasized that “This poll isn’t scientific — it’s for fun!”
