Veterans Day was marked in Modesto on Tuesday morning with a parade that started at the Modesto Library and proceeded down I Street to the Gallo Center for the Arts. A ceremony followed to honor those who have served in the armed forces.

The event was organized by the Veterans Chamber of Commerce NorCal. After the parade, the organization posted on its Facebook page, “Thank you all for coming out to enjoy the event this morning. Giving US veterans your time and attention, thanking them and making this day about their sacrifice is important in our community.”

Several elected officials from Modesto and Stanislaus County took part in the parade. State Senator Marie Alvarado-Gil also participated and invited female veterans to walk with her.
