Modesto police arrest suspect after family dispute leads to shooting

A 31-year-old man was hospitalized after a shooting that occurred in Modesto early Thursday morning, according to the Modesto Police Department. Authorities said the incident followed a dispute between family members.

The Modesto Fire Department responded to a call on the 300 block of Bruce Avenue shortly after midnight and found one person with a gunshot wound. Paramedics provided treatment at the scene before transporting the man to a local hospital.

MPD spokesperson Sharon Bear stated that the victim sustained “non-life threatening injuries.”

Police arrested Jacob Sedoo, age 31, on suspicion of attempted murder. He is being held at the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center with bail set at $1.5 million.
