Nominations are open for the final contest in the “best in Stanislaus County” poll series, this time focusing on home-based businesses. Residents can nominate businesses such as crochet shops, cookie decorators, jam makers, or any other operation that runs from a home. Eligible nominees may sell their products from home, at farmers markets, vendor events, or within retail shops if they have the necessary permits.

Organizers ask that nominations exclude multilevel marketing business operators. The public is reminded to ensure that nominated businesses have all required permits to operate.

Questions about qualifying businesses can be directed to dwilliams@modbee.com. Nominations begin Tuesday, Dec. 23 and will close on Christmas Day. Finalists will be announced Friday, with voting running through Sunday, Dec. 28. The winner will be featured on Monday.

“Santa’s not the only one watching this holiday season. The health department can put your favorite business owner on the naughty list, too, so make sure it has any required permits to operate before you nominate it.”

Nominations may be submitted using an online form or by emailing the provided address by 5 p.m. Thursday.
