A three-vehicle collision occurred Saturday night on Albers Road, south of Oakdale, resulting in the death of one driver, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The incident took place at approximately 8:45 p.m. near Valk Road.

The CHP’s preliminary investigation found that a 31-year-old man from Oakdale was driving a 1999 Chevrolet pickup southbound on Albers Road. A Honda Accord was traveling behind the pickup, while a Volvo tractor-trailer was approaching from the opposite direction in the northbound lane.

According to the CHP release, “The Chevrolet driver unsafely turned to the left and crashed into the left front of the big rig. The impact caused the Volvo to turn left and collide with the Honda. It is believed alcohol may have been a factor in this traffic crash.”

The driver of the Chevrolet pickup was pronounced dead at the scene. The drivers of both the Volvo tractor-trailer and Honda were not injured, according to CHP; however, an incident summary from Modesto Fire Department stated they sustained minor injuries and were taken to local hospitals.

All individuals involved in the crash were reported to be wearing seatbelts.
