Alejandro “Alex” Vallejo has been appointed as Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer at PG&E Corporation and its subsidiary, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), effective September 30. Vallejo, who has spent 15 years with the company, will now lead PG&E’s People organization. His responsibilities include overseeing talent acquisition, labor relations, employee development, and change management to support the company’s efforts in building a safe and resilient energy system.

PG&E Corporation CEO Patti Poppe commented on Vallejo’s appointment: “Alex has been one of the most empathetic and trustworthy leaders I’ve had the pleasure of working with. He understands and models the culture we are working to build at PG&E—focused on safety, leading with love and causing joy for our coworkers and customers. I look forward to his leadership in developing our team to bring this culture to life every day.”

Vallejo is taking over from Kaled Awada, who recently left PG&E for other opportunities. Prior to this role, Vallejo was PG&E’s Chief Risk Officer and Senior Vice President for Ethics & Compliance. In these positions, he managed enterprise risk assessment related to operations and public safety as well as compliance functions covering privacy, federal regulations, records management, and information governance. He has also held leadership roles within the legal and customer teams at PG&E.

Reflecting on his time at the company so far, Vallejo stated: “In my 15 years at PG&E, I have come to know, love and deeply admire my coworkers, from our hometown service centers to our Oakland headquarters. I’m honored to continue fostering our culture, where it is enjoyable to work with and for PG&E and where we’re delivering for our customers to meet the dynamic and critical energy needs of California.”

Before joining PG&E, Vallejo worked as a litigator specializing in complex commercial cases at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP. He holds a law degree from Harvard Law School and a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Riverside.
