Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) is preparing for Super Bowl LX, scheduled for February 8 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. The company has mobilized crews, coordinated with local agencies, and activated emergency centers to maintain energy service during the week of events.
PG&E began its preparations months in advance, starting in September, to ensure reliable gas and electric service at event venues throughout the Bay Area. Although Silicon Valley Power (SVP) is the main electricity provider for Levi’s Stadium, PG&E supports SVP by delivering transmission service to the stadium’s substation.
The company has worked closely with local government and public safety partners across the Bay Area to support Super Bowl-related events. Vincent Davis, Chief Customer Officer and Senior Vice President of Customer Experience at PG&E, stated: “This week is about more than football. It’s about the communities we serve every day. PG&E is committed to helping keep the Bay Area running safely and reliably so customers, visitors and local businesses can enjoy the celebrations with confidence.”
PG&E collaborated with organizations such as the Super Bowl 60 Bay Area Host Committee (BAHC), the National Football League (NFL), and various public safety agencies in San Francisco, the East Bay, and South Bay to prepare for an influx of national and international visitors.
Angie Gibson, Vice President of Emergency Preparedness & Response at PG&E, commented: “This level of coordination demonstrates how all teams are coming together as one to build resilience into the system and deliver a seamless experience for our hometowns during this high-profile event.”
To enhance response capabilities during Super Bowl week, PG&E activated its system-wide Emergency Operations Center along with local emergency-response centers in San Francisco and San Jose. Additional crews will be available on game day.
PG&E is also partnering with BAHC, the San Jose Sports Authority, NFL, civic groups, and nonprofits to support community events throughout Super Bowl week. Their sponsorship includes supporting programs such as Super Bowl Breakfast, Taste of NFL events, volunteer activities in East Palo Alto, youth outreach efforts in Oakland and San Francisco, innovation summits, community celebrations, and watch parties.
The last time a Super Bowl was held in the Bay Area was ten years ago when PG&E served as Clean Energy Partner for Super Bowl 50 Host Committee.
Pacific Gas and Electric Company serves over 16 million people across Northern and Central California through natural gas and electric utility services covering 70,000 square miles. More information can be found on their website at https://www.pge.com/news.
