Loaded firearms, ammunition, and two explosive devices were found at a residence across from Somerset Middle School in Modesto last week, according to the Modesto Police Department. Officers from the department’s Narcotics Enforcement Team executed a search warrant on October 20 at a home located on the 1000 block of Floyd Avenue.

The operation was conducted as part of an investigation led by the Stanislaus County Probation Department. During the search, officers reported finding several weapons, including a fully automatic “Uzi-style machine gun” equipped with a silencer.

Joshua Reyes, age 49, was identified as the subject of the investigation. He was arrested and booked into Stanislaus County jail. Authorities stated that Reyes faces multiple charges: being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of an assault weapon, possession of a silencer, and possession of an explosive device. An additional enhancement charge was applied due to the proximity to a public school. His bail is set at $1 million.

A press release noted that “the investigation was possible through a multi-agency effort, which included support from the Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigation Unit and Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office.”
