Six individuals at the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center were hospitalized after overdosing on Saturday. The incident occurred around 10:18 a.m. on November 15, when an incarcerated person notified staff that others in his housing unit required medical attention.

Deputies and medical personnel responded and found six people unconscious, exhibiting symptoms consistent with an opioid-related overdose. Staff administered Narcan to revive the affected individuals, who were then transported to a hospital for further evaluation and treatment. All six were medically cleared and returned to the facility later that day.

The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office stated it is not known how or when the substance entered the jail. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
