Snapchat and Xbox have introduced a new augmented reality (AR) lens that allows users to scan the moon and see it transformed into Moon Man, the mascot from the video game The Outer Worlds 2. This partnership coincides with the release of The Outer Worlds 2, a sequel to the original sci-fi role-playing game developed by Obsidian Entertainment.

The AR lens uses celestial tracking technology along with a phone’s compass, enabling fans to interact with the moon regardless of weather or lighting conditions. When users scan the moon through Snapchat, Moon Man appears with his characteristic expressions and animated stories across the night sky. Additionally, users can switch their camera view to see themselves as Moon Man.

As part of this collaboration, a custom telescope inspired by items from Auntie’s Choice in The Outer Worlds 2 has been created. This telescope incorporates Snapchat’s AR technology; when pointed at the moon, it brings Moon Man to life for viewers.
