Snap Inc. has announced that its Imagine Lens, an open prompt image generation tool previously limited to paying subscribers, is now available to all Snapchat users in the United States at no cost. The company also revealed plans to expand access to additional countries, starting with Canada, Great Britain, and Australia.

The Imagine Lens allows users to create images by simply typing their ideas into the Snapchat camera. Users can then share their generated content with friends, post it to their Story, or distribute it outside of Snapchat.

“With the Imagine Lens, your creativity is the only limit. Just type in your idea, watch it come to life, and share your creation with friends, your Story, or even beyond Snapchat,” Snap stated.

To encourage experimentation with the new feature, Snap is providing users with a limited number of free image generations.

The company emphasized responsible use of artificial intelligence on its platform. “We love how AI unlocks amazing creativity—so keep it fun, stay transparent, and share responsibly when you use or post AI-edited or generated content,” Snap said.
