Stanislaus Crime Stoppers seeks public help after masked arsonist sets fire in Turlock

Turlock police are seeking public assistance to identify a suspect involved in an arson incident at an occupied residence. According to a post made by Stanislaus Crime Stoppers on Instagram, the fire took place early in the morning on August 31. Home security footage, time stamped at 2:23 a.m., captured a person approaching the front porch carrying a water bottle and a five-gallon bucket.

The video shows the individual, who appears to be male, throwing a heavy object to break a window before pouring what was described as gasoline from both the bottle and bucket into the house through the broken window. The person is seen wearing a hooded jacket and a mask resembling those worn during Halloween.

The Crime Stoppers post stated, “An arson fire was ignited. It was extinguished within minutes. No occupants of the home were injured.” Authorities have not disclosed the location of the home.

Anyone with information that could help identify the suspect is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers by texting “StanCS” to 738447, calling 866-602-7463, visiting stancrimetips.org, or using the P3 app. According to officials, individuals who provide helpful information may be eligible for a cash reward.
