A traffic accident in Oakdale on Tuesday evening resulted in three people being hospitalized, including a Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office deputy and a juvenile, according to the Oakdale Police Department.
The incident occurred at around 5:45 p.m. at the intersection of Yosemite Avenue and E Street. This intersection does not have left-turn lanes, stop signs, or signals for vehicles traveling along Yosemite Avenue.
First responders from the Oakdale Police Department and paramedics arrived to find three individuals injured: the sheriff’s deputy, another adult, and a juvenile. The police did not provide the age of the juvenile involved.
Both the deputy and the other adult were transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital with minor injuries. The Modesto Fire Department reported that the juvenile was airlifted due to “minor to moderate” injuries.
Investigators believe that as the deputy was driving northbound through the intersection on Yosemite Avenue, another vehicle heading southbound turned left onto E Street, crossing into the path of the deputy’s vehicle.
“The collision is currently under investigation by the Oakdale Police Department Traffic Unit,” read OPD’s release. “The investigation remains ongoing, as further details and evidence are being collected.”
