For the first time since the 2020-21 academic year, Stanislaus State University has reported an increase in student enrollment. The university’s enrollment rose by about 1% compared to the previous year, with 9,398 students enrolled this year, up from 9,295 last year.
The California State University (CSU) system experienced a decline in student numbers following the pandemic but began to recover during the 2024-25 school year. Stanislaus State joined this upward trend only this year. Enrollment at CSU Stanislaus had remained above 10,000 between 2017 and 2021 but dropped into the 9,000s afterward.
University data indicates that psychology, business administration, liberal studies, criminal justice, and biological sciences have been the most popular majors over the past five years. Computer science and sociology also saw significant numbers of students. Public health experienced a notable increase in enrollment during this period. Majors such as physical sciences, art history, gender studies, ethnic studies, and cognitive studies recorded lower enrollment figures when excluding those with zero enrollment in any given year.
Demographic information shows that Latino and Hispanic students make up about 62% of the student body. White students account for approximately 18%, while Asian students represent about 8.2%. Together, these groups comprise roughly 88% of the university’s population.
Institutional data from CSU Stanislaus identifies Modesto Junior College as one of the top sources of incoming students. Other major institutions of origin include Merced Community College, San Joaquin Delta College, Central Valley High School, Pitman High School, Ceres High School, Turlock High School, Modesto High School, Enochs High School and Downey High School.
