UC Merced women’s soccer player Trinidad Quiroz has signed a professional contract with Necaxa Femenil, a team in Liga BBVA MX Femenil. She becomes the first athlete from the Bobcats program to sign with the top division of women’s football in Mexico.
Quiroz, who is from San Jose, California, was recognized as a two-time NAIA All-American and received All-CCAA First Team honors after UC Merced’s inaugural season in NCAA Division II. Over three years with the Bobcats, she started 55 games and accumulated 109 points through 48 goals and 14 assists. Her totals for points and goals are both second-highest in school history, while her record of 20 game-winning goals stands as a program best.
In 2023, Quiroz set a new single-season scoring record for the California Pacific Conference by netting 23 goals. That year she was named Cal Pac Player of the Year and helped lead UC Merced to its first Cal Pac Tournament Championship as well as its first victory in the NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championship Opening Round.
Quiroz also became the program’s first NAIA Third Team All-American and CSC Academic All-American (first team) following her performance during the 2023 season. Her other career awards include being named a 2022 NAIA Honorable Mention All-American, earning recognition as Cal Pac Newcomer of the Year that same season, twice being selected to the All-Cal Pac First Team, receiving four Cal Pac Player of the Week honors, and one CCAA Player of the Week award.
During her senior year in 2025, Quiroz tied for second place in CCAA scoring with seven goals and led with four game-winning goals on her way to another All-CCAA First Team selection. She also led all players in shots per game (3.5) and shots on goal per game (1.83).
Quiroz graduated from UC Merced in December 2025 with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science & Engineering.
