Two hospitalized after Oakdale head-on crash; suspect faces DUI and hit-and-run charges

An alleged drunk driver was arrested after a head-on collision in Oakdale on Thanksgiving Day, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The incident occurred on River Road when Navin Sharma Kumar, driving a Mercedes, reportedly collided with another vehicle. The crash resulted in two family members being hospitalized with major injuries.

The CHP stated, “Mr. Kumar fled the scene and was later apprehended by the CHP — Modesto.” Following his arrest, Kumar was booked into Stanislaus County Jail on charges of felony DUI, felony hit-and-run, and driving with a suspended license. Authorities also noted that he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

No additional information has been released regarding the condition of the injured individuals.
