The U.S. Census Bureau has released the 2023 Business Dynamics Statistics (BDS), which offer detailed information on business activity across the United States. The statistics cover key indicators such as job creation and destruction, establishment births and deaths, and firm startups and shutdowns. These data are aggregated by both establishment and firm characteristics, providing a broad view of economic trends from 1978 through 2023.

According to the announcement, the BDS is an annual time series that spans more than four decades. The dataset is accessible through multiple platforms, including the official BDS website, the Census API, and BDS Explorer. The explorer tool allows users to visualize data using line charts, bar charts, and thematic maps. Its dashboard helps users construct tables and charts for comparison and organization of business dynamics measures.

To learn more about these resources or access the data directly, visit BDS or BDS Explorer.
