Obdulia Sanchez, who drew national attention in 2017 after livestreaming a DUI crash that killed her younger sister in Merced County, has died following a drive-by shooting in Stockton. The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the identity of the 26-year-old victim, according to Sacramento television station KCRA.

Sanchez was 18 when she broadcast herself on social media while driving. She lost control of her car near Henry Miller Road and Highway 140, north of Los Banos. The accident resulted in the death of her 14-year-old sister, Jacqueline Sanchez, and injured another passenger, Manuela Ceja.

On Tuesday evening, deputies responded to reports of gunfire near Gertrude Avenue and Fremont Street in Stockton shortly after 7 p.m., KCRA reported. Officials stated that two people—a man and a woman—were found with gunshot wounds and transported to a local hospital. Sanchez later died from her injuries. The condition of the male victim has not been disclosed.

After serving time for gross vehicular manslaughter and DUI charges related to the 2017 crash, Sanchez was released on parole in September 2019. She was arrested again in 2020 following an alleged police pursuit involving weapons charges.
